Need an Answer!

I've been walking 30 minutes a day at 3.5 mph and running 1-2 miles a day at 5 mph. I am pretty sure I have the cardio down;) My question is when and what is the best ab, leg work out I can do? I have a nerve pinched in my lower left back so old fashion crunches about kill me! Do I need to do anything or with time running/walking will it tone up? I've never tried to lose weight:(
