Am I The Only One.....

Am I the only one or have you had times after losing weight you actually looked heavier? Since I can't pick where pounds X, Y and Z depart from, for me it has been mostly in the face, hips and legs so far. So now the waist area (AKA love handles) is more distinct than before. Not concerned because the BP, scale, and belts I have had to toss have told a very happy tale and eventually that battle will be won; but I was just curious if anyone else has had this happen to them. Have a happy and safe 4th of July everyone.

Yes my hips look extremely pronounced and they are at their smallest measurement. So yes, indeed the funhouse mirrors ....

I think my upper arms look fatter, but I suspect they're just more noticeable because they're kinda saggy now.

I thought it was just me. Some things getting smaller means other things look bigger I guess. Just wish I could get it to work for me rather than against. My chest shrunk so now my belly looks bigger. Why couldn't it be the other way around?

Yes, this happened to me. The fat on my midsection has gotten really loose (someone told me it's because the fat is separating to pull off my abdomen and be used as fuel) and it has caused a lot of spreading and a profound muffin top (even though all of my pants are way too big!!).

As you said, fat tends to come off from where it jolly well pleases... and usually, it is from where you don't want it to first. In addition to that, remember areas that are larger to begin with will be more pronounced if fat comes down in similar quantities from different areas... For instance if your weight proportion is 3 lbs of fat in the face, 40 in the waist, 30 in the hips and 10 lbs in the extremities... If you lose let's say 2 lbs in the face, 20 in the waist, 15 in the hips and 7 in the extremities, then the percentage of remaining fat is much higher in the waist and hips than in the face, lets say... In this case it would be 67% face, 50% waist, 50% hips and 70% extremities... By appearance, it would appear that your belly got larger when in actuality it got quite a bit smaller... yet proportionally, it does not work out that way.... Keep at it and eventually, it has to go ....

    best wishes and happy 4th.
