Last Sept. I had a biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch. I am so glad that I had the surgery. It is so worth it. Remember that the surgery is only a tool and that you still have to work hard to lose the weight. Feel free to add me.0

Good luck with your weight loss, but unless someone is extremely obese, I am not in favor of weight loss surgery, as surgery is never without risk, and many people that have the sleeve or other WLS have lifelong complications.
Before you go through with this, would you like to think about trying an all organic diet, raw food diet, or something like that for a while? It's much less risky than surgery, and many people have found they do lose a sumstantial smount of weight once they remove all foods with chemical preservatives from their diet.0 -
I have not had one but have taken care of people post op. GET UP i can not stress that enough as soon as they let you up get moving and switch to oral meds as soon as they let you the IV pain meds slow you down from moving. Good luck on your journey0

Are you 100% sure that you want to go through with lap band surgery? There's still time to change your mind!
While lap bands can be reversed, they can cause all sorts of health complications and eating limitations. Personally, I would not recommend anyone go that route unless they are EXTREMELY large.

Please do not fear the sleeve or band. Obesity is far more risky and most certainly leads to death. Having said that, I was banded in October of 2010 and have lost nearly 120lbs. BUT and this is a HUGE BUT that I cannot stress enough, no bariatric surgery is magic and no bariatric surgery alone is enough to save your life or make you skinny. Any bariatric surgery will most likely cause weight loss in the short term, but if you have not already made the life style changes necessary to live healthy than do not waste your money or time. Bariatric surgery is nothing more than an adjunct to weight loss and a fit lifestyle, it is not a the principle means by which you should change your life.
I know you have heard all of this before but I mean what I say. I have seen more bariatric surgeries fail because people think that the procedure will simply fix all their problems, but you can stretch a lap band or sleeve out and ruin a bypass. If you are not 100% ready to work just as hard as you would without the sleeve then do not do it yet.0 -
On top of the risks from having the lap band istelf, there are risk with ANY surgery, including risks from having to be put under general anesthesia, risks from infection, etc.
The doctors and clinics that profit from weight loss surgery will nearly always play down the risks and complications and maximize the potential benefits so you will agree to the proceedure.
If you have not tried a clean eating diet where you only eat foods that do not contain chemical preservitaves for at least several weeks, I would strongly suggest you try that first before you go through with the surgery. That works for many people, because many overweight people have a sensitivity to chemical preservatives that causes their bodies to hold onto fat.
If that does not work, you can always do the surgery later.
If it does work, you will have saved youself a lot of money, pain, recovery time, and will never have to deal with the negative effects or complications of weight loss surgery.0 -
I hope you change your mind and don't go through with it!0
