Mine: Avoid any mayo based salad...Just a good rule of thumb, never know how long they've been sitting there and they have all those extra calories for you.

And drink water, chances are you're thirsty in the sun :-)

Make your burgers open faced or even put them in a lettuce wrap to lower the total calories and carbs.

Make/Bring one of your favorite ordinarily "fattening" dishes or snacks yourself...so that you can still eat it but since YOU made it you can make it "lighter" than anyone else most likely would and you know exactly what's in it. Or bring a veggie tray with light dip - so you know you have something healthy you can munch on!

ex...I love chips and dip at a BBQ...so I buy reduced fat ruffles (in a bowl so no one knows) and I use light sour cream...at least its a little better!

Also volunteer to help get the fireworks(if you somewhere that they are lighting them) (walking back and forth bringing them to whoever is lighting them...little exercise and/or suggest an active game (volleyball, catch, b-ball) again....a little exercise and it keeps you from standing around grazing for a little while!

I think this was a great idea for a post....I hope others respond! I'd love to get some helpful ideas!
