NROLFW (New Rules Of Lifting For Women) - Week 1 done.

I tried this at home some time ago, but it just wasn't happening so well. I took it to the gym this week and wow! What a difference! So much easier.

Anyone else doing this?

It's a 6-7 month multi-phase total body lifting program designed by Lou Schuler and Alwyn Cosgrove.

It sounds as though they are trying to dispel the myths about women and weight lifting (fear of "bulking up", etc), and encourage women to utilize standard, effective lifting strategies and techniques and stop wasting time waving 5lb weights all over the place.

I wouldn't call it unique, but if they can motivate women to throw away the baby bells, more power to them!

I read the book which I thought was informative and definitely agree that women need to get more into weight training!!!

But I didn't follow the workouts. Good luck!!

It's good so far. I've been wanting to dive in nose first to Crossfit but wanted to use a more functional approach before beginning with kipping pull-ups and clean and jerks...SO this seems to be one of the better programs out there.

I did 90 days of P90X, but I'm not motivated enough to work out at home and the workouts were too long. NR is built for the gym and allows more flexibility on "off" days for me to resume my (somewhat defunct) running schedule. At 20-40 mins for each lifting session it's also a time bargain :)
