Ahahahaha. Love this post. Depends on my mood...some days I could shop all day long and other days I could stab everyone out of my way to get it over with quicker. Just depends which way the wind is blowing. =p

If, for some reason, I get home and decide in a few days I don’t really like it, do I take it back? Nope. I’ll be polishing my motorcycle with it.

Hahahaaa. All of it is so very true...

I really don't like shopping. I do most of it online. There are times when I'll go into a clothing store and spend more time in there that I'd planned... but it's rare. My husband actually does most of our shopping... complete with coupons & all the ridiculous discounts. Lol. He's the shopper in the family, not me. I make the list and know what I want... and he goes and gets it.

Men spend $3 for a $2 item they need
Women spend $1 for a $2 item they don't need

It was a fun read you wrote sir!

    :) Maybe so...

Though I wish he'd cut it out with those damned coupons... sometimes we can't leave the house until he finds an online coupon.

I believe it goes back to neanderthal times.

Women needed to gather all different kinds of berries, fruit, nuts, etc we needed to be able to find the best, ripest, juiciest. We needed baskets to carry said items and good shoes as we had to wander long distances to find said items. We would go in groups because it was safer and of course had to stop to eat along the way. When we got back we would have to show all the gathered items to our mate to justify why we were late and his dinner wasn't ready.

You guys just had to find a deer, kill it and drag it home.

I HATE shopping. I've been told multiple times that I shop like a man.

This was a brilliant read--and ridiculously true. And then if another lady compliments you on something you are wearing--it's always the same kind of answer "Thanks! *insert store name here* *insert sale price here*"

Oh shopping. How I love you.

I go on a shopping spree at the mall or at boutiques twice a year.. Those are the only times I am gone all day shopping . I do, however, do this frequently, but I do it via the internet. Coupons and everything. My husband thinks I am crazy. One time I yelled at my apt manager for not letting me know what my package arrived. (I went up there every two hours or so until the office closed, my package was there -.-) I make him watch me try everything on and tell him how much I saved. I also ask for comments so I can decide if it goes back or not.

He always goes shopping with out me, so I have no idea how he does it. Every time he goes to buy anything, he buys them in bulk. 10 shirts, 3 pairs of shoes, 4 pairs of pants. He only buys one type of clothing at a time.

that goes to the primal, men as hunters.. see meat.. shoot meat.. bring meat home.. and women.. oh flowers, beads, fruits, veg.. let's pick these green plants.. maybe we can eat them.. gatherers..

    It's nature and natural.

I shop because it's my entertainment.
    :) I could be your wife :)

Ha ha! Love this. The next time I try to justify going shopping to my husband, I'll read this so I can figure out how to justify it from his perspective. I have figured out that I have to illustrate that I need clothes by cleaning out my closet and removing all the clothes that I no longer wear or that are too big. Thanks for the help!

I really don't enjoy shopping unless I'm looking for something. Once I find it, I'm done. I don't like window shopping. It just makes me feel about all these things I like, but have to look and not touch! So, I don't shop unless I'm want/need something particular. Usually its because I need jeans or a dress for a special occasion. Every once in a while I'll go to my favorite (ONLY THIS STORE) and just look around until I find something I like. Thats it.

Perfect! I love this post...it is so true! And I think it could be summed up as...women go shopping just because, men go shopping if the absolutely have to, they get exactly what they came for and leave...

Hmmm, well, so far several of us women disagree with you on that! I think it is a stereotype that doesn't work for a lot of women.

I will tell you this is the first I have ever heard of a woman NOT liking to just go to the mall ALL DAY LONG!!!!!!!!!

I HATE the mall. Its a torture chamber in my eyes. When I go, I buy the first thing that I think makes me look fabulous and keep it moving. I have WAAAY better things to do than hem and haw over clothing!

I hate the mall too. I'd rather just go to a specialty store, get what I am needing and get out.

I typically shop with a mission. Today's mission was "get shorts that actually fit your *kitten*." And I did get three pair, but I have the attention span of a kitten (Ooh, look! A string!) so I also got two shirts, a pair of sandals (which I did need because the sandals I bought a few years ago are falling apart) and a ring, just because it was cute and would bump my purchase up enough to qualify for a $10 coupon.

And I "saved" almost $200, while spending about $60.

o.k I am guilty. Me and my older daughters used to make a hobby out of shopping. We used to do all day shopping trips and spend 6+ hrs at the mall constantly. But I think we all got burned out because now none of us like to go to the mall    Oh we still like to shop just not at the mall

I shop like a man. Sales? Coupons? Psh, whatever. I save enough money by shopping only when I need to and buying only what I need. If something happens to be on sale, it's a plus, but I don't go just because something is marked down.

Also, I used to love to shop, until I gained my weight and nothing looked good. So once I am down to my goal weight, I look forward to some shopping!

This! I like shopping when I end up finding stuff that looks good but right now, I go when I absolutely have to and dread it. Most of the time, I end up in the dressing room or at home crying because I'm so frustrated with myself! I can't WAIT for the day when I actually enjoy shopping 100%, start to finish!

While everything you wrote in your OP is God's truth, if I am seen agreeing with it by my four daughters (aged 15, 19, 21, and 23) and my wife, they will emaculate me even more than normal and make me shop for their tampons. Again.

But you are SO RIGHT ON!

very funny :-) i generally agree but i managed to get an exception to the rule.

my husband and i both love to shop. in our new place there is a small walk in closet and a HUGE reach in. the reach in will be his. that man is a clothes horse!!

when we started dating i think he wasn't that into shopping but came along to spend time with me. now he shops for a new dress shirt, ties, socks, pants (anything!) on his lunch break most days. he comes home almost once a week with a bag from macy's or the rack. i think the fact that his office is smack dab in the middle of one of the world's top shopping destinations may play a part also.

LOL I am guilty of SOME of those female crimes, but not the coupons bit. I haven't been shopping in so long though due to lack of money, it's depressing lol.

I do have a question regarding this though:

If, for some reason, I get home and decide in a few days I don’t really like it, do I take it back? Nope. I’ll be polishing my motorcycle with it.

How can you afford to be doing that lol? I could never afford to buy clothes and then polish something with it!

Also, the shopping online thing is always a bit dodgy, as I'm not sure if it's the same in the US, but over here (UK) sizes seem to vary slightly from shop to shop. One shop in particular which is very cheap I ALWAYS have to buy a size bigger because their sizes are weird, and everyone I know has the same issues! Yet if I go somewhere that's a bit more expensive my size fits. Maybe it's because they're so cheap lol.
