Calorie intake while on P90-X

Hi folks,

I'm on P90-X, and I'm noticing some improvements in my conditioning, but not in my weight. My body recomp might be improving, since I'm strong and have better endurance than when I started, and I have lost a few pounds.

Here's my question: I'm trying to gather simple data from others who have done P90-X in an attempt to triangulate on a conclusion regarding appropriate calorie intake while on the program. What I'm interested in is the following, for those who have either completed, or gotten halfway through P90-X:

1. Gender
2. Goals (ie, lose weight or gain muscle?)
3. Rate the success you had on a 1-5 (1 being bad, 5 being good)
4. How many calories - roughly - did you take in while on the program?
5. What was your target macro nutrient breakdown while on the program? (ie, what % fat, carbs, protein were you shooting for)
6. Overall, would you say you have a fast, medium, or slow metabolism?

I think that's it, thanks in advance. Oh, and btw, I am in *no way* affiliated with P90-X, and this is really just for me. (Well, and anyone else on the program who might benefit from it.) According to Tony, I'm supposed to be eating about 3000 calories per day, but I have to say, I just don't see that working. Has anyone actually done that and lost weight on P90-X?

I have been doing P90X and love it!

    1. Gender - Female
    2. Goals (ie, lose weight or gain muscle?) - Both but found out today you can't gain muscle while losing weight. At least that is what everyone on here is telling me.
    3. Rate the success you had on a 1-5 (1 being bad, 5 being good) - 5 have lost 21.5 pounds
    4. How many calories - roughly - did you take in while on the program? - I am set at 1300 a day but I eat all my exercise calories back for the most part. I did not follow P90X plan. Just using MFP.
    5. What was your target macro nutrient breakdown while on the program? (ie, what % fat, carbs, protein were you shooting for) - Try to stay low carb but mainly sugar carbs. I still eat whole wheat bread and pasta on occasion. I really try to not pay attention to the macros except for one. That is protein. I am always over on my protein everyday.
    6. Overall, would you say you have a fast, medium, or slow metabolism? I would say slow because I was diagnosed with thyroid condition last year and on medication. My doctor told me that means for me that I will have to count every calorie and work out longer than the average person in order to lose weight.
That is why I turned to P90X. I need the hour long hard core workouts. Especially since I have a desk job.
  • Awesome, thanks so much for sharing. So it sounds like you definitely did some calorie restriction, and it helped you lose weight, more than gain muscle?

(Also, congrads on your success - that's awesome)
