Hey everyone-I am trying to find an alternative for bottled bbq sauce. I would love to be able to make my own but have found they are high in sugar (I'm diabetic)-Does anyone have a recipe that does not use sugar? Also, I am allergic to artificial sweetener-that includes all natural Plant ones as well. Thank you in advance!

Seriously, I would mix straight tomato paste with lemon juice and wishishere sauce.
Season with some garlic and a tad of some kind of All Season. I use Tony Charchere.
    Good Luck!

yeah i'd start with tomato paste and to that add:
    - some acidic (vinegar, worcestershire sauce, or soy)
    - something spicy (hot peppers or cayenne)
    - herbs and spices
    - something sweet (you will need this to balance out the acid and the spicy) : you can use agave OR if you want to get fancy you can make your own fruit based sweeteners.

for the fruit sweeteners experiment with simmering a fruit with a little fresh grated citrus peel and citrus juice and some ginger, cinamon and nutmeg.. simmering cranberries, blueberries with grated orange and lemon peel and orange and lemon juice and a cinnamon stick is delicious!

    - you can even add something like a shot of bourbon or dark rum too if you like.

    just get creative.

Chipotle and a lil liquid smoke might make it rather tasty too~
