Bad hair cut and color

What do you do with a bad hair cut and color? I'm so embarrassed, I won't leave home without my baseball hat... I wanted a short "do" for exercising. It now looks like a rat chewed on it... and the color is so dark, I've washed it 6 times in 2 days. I'm in tears and I need help but don't know where to turn? Any suggestions?

Call the salon manager, and ask her if you can come in and have her (or one of her stylists that she recommends) fix it.

I was told by a hairdresser friend that dishwashing soap will remove dye that's too dark. Be sure to use a deep conditioner afterwards. . .as it strips. I've tried it and it does work.:flowerforyou:

But, you should def. call the salon manager and insist that somebody (preferably the manager/owner/best stylist in the place) fix it.

Sorry, I know it sucks (been there, done that.) But, time heals all wounds and terrible haircuts.

Ditto and fix it for free.

The salon will fix it for free if you speak to the manager and tell them how much you hate it. Good luck

Great! I'll try the dish soap tomorrow morning! Thanks!!
  • I've also been told washing your hair with shaving cream will strip it out too. You can also use Suave shampoo. I've been told that's a harsher shampoo that strips your hair down.

But I DEFINITELY would call the salon and speak with them about fixing it first.

Sorry about your hair. It's a bummer when you hate your hair :grumble:

So sorry to hear about your hair. Happened to me once. All I can say is thank God hair is always growing. I would call salon and speak to manager. You might not be the only one that has complained about this person. Good luck

I colored my hear one time and didn't leave the dye in long enough and it turned out PINK!!! I was horrified!!! I didn't know about the dish liquid or any way to salvage it so I had to wear it that way until it faded out. I had to go to work that way and ride the bus and be out in public. Terrible! My son loved it though and one of my co-workers did too.  Never made that mistake again. :noway:

Anyway good luck. I hope you can get your hair fixed.

After the dish soap torture use a really good hair reconstructor type conditioner! There will be no oils in your hair and it could cause breakage! Not to mention it will be as dull as an old rag!

Please talk to the salon BEFORE trying to strip it yourself.

I had this happen to me a few years back. My regular colorist was with 3 ladies when I arrived. I asked if he wanted me to come back, but he said he was almost done with 2 of them.

Well he was so overwelmed he did my roots with a dark color I had 3 yrs before!

I looked like a reverse skunk!!

To lighten it he gave me an all over highlight job (usually cost 150 dollars!) It looked great and when it started to fade we were able to go back to my original color.

THEY have a responsibility to do the job right....I hope you call them today.

    By the way............you are a lovely woman:flowerforyou:
  • ABSOLUTELY call the salon, and politely, but firmly, explain.

The same thing happened to me on Friday - I went in for subtle highlights (I'm a dark brunette) and I got blonde highlights! Eeek!

I called them yesterday, and I am going in Monday for a FREE caramel glaze, that will tone them down. It's not done yet, but I am thrilled that they are going to give me what I wanted in the first place.

Good luck, and let us know what happens.
