My first workout success!

I just finished a 60 minute workout on my stationary bicycle! I'm so excited! Now, I know that may not seem so great to al the fit folks, but I'm coming from a very sedentary lifestyle at about 266# here. The longest I've ever done before is 40 minutes and I thought I was going to die. I usually give up after 20. Tonight, I just plugged into my TV to watch some football & kept going and going and going. It was amazing. I felt like I was going to die after about 30 minutes but I just pushed through and made it another 30! Everytime "my team" made a big play, I got a boost of energy, and every time they made a huge mistake, I got another boost of energy out of anger. I got a lot of energy from that anger tonight since "my team" is the SC Gamecocks!
Plus, it's my first weekend day since my endeavor for health began and I've been amazingly good! Not even close to going over my food calories (which I've set at 1300) -- I have to treat myself a little later to get there.
Sure hope my enthusiasm is this high after a couple of months.

ROFL!!!!! That is soo true! I've never had an end of workout burst of energy like I did while at the gym watching an action movie. The louder the music got the faster I found myself going. This is definitely why I don't mind paying a little more for my gym--it's worth it for the built in tv's on all the machines. It makes the time fly by. Not to mention the fact that sometime I ened up working out longer than I intended because I just have to see the end of something : )
Congratulations on your victory today! Trust me when I say that it gets easier. I'll never forget the day when the elliptical machine kept yelling at me (e.g. beeping) because I just couldn't seem to get into the "Cardio" zone heart rate wise. It finally told me "switching to manual mode" because no matter how hard I pushed or how fast I went I couldn't get my HR above 140. It finally occurred to me the next day that it was a good thing because it meant my endurance had gotten to the point that I needed to switch up my workout. So now I always use "manual" mode and when I get to the point that I can't get my HR up within 10 mins or so I up the intensity.0 -
GREAT JOB!! I know exactly what you are talking about...I can remember when I first started exercising and all I could do on the treadmill was 2 speed on a 0 incline for about 4 minutes. When I was able to workout longer and harder I was so pumped! Use this experience today to motivate you to push through those times when you are dying and you want to stop. Look at how far you have come and KNOW you are going to make it!! We all are cheering you on! :happy:0

Congratulations! I'm still working my way to my regular routine goal, but I'm celebrating every extra minute I add! It's such a rush to be one step closer. Keep up the good work!0

You must really be feeling great! What an accomplishment!
:flowerforyou:
We got a recumbent stationery bike in February & I couldn't do more than 5 minutes at a time...but I kept it up & by summer I could do an hour, too.
I love it!
Keep up the good work.
