I ran / walk the 5K today and my time was 35 minutes 29 seconds. I came in 6th in my division. My legs were killing me and I just kept pushing, I knew it was a mental block and my body could take it. I was so proud when I finished and they told me my time. I was shooting for 45 minutes and my really hopeful goal was 40 minutes. When they said 35:29, I just stood there and thought I did it, I really did it!!

That is a GREAT time!
Did you do 10/1 - or what ratio of walking & running? I've been running 5km 3 times a week, and straight running gives me a time of around 38 minutes - I would love to get it down to 35 minutes!!! That's awesome!

I really don't know, my HRM battery dead right before the race began. I was so bummed. I just ran until I thought I was going to die and then walked as fast as I could, then ran again. I am sorry I can't be more help. I would pick something up ahead and think I can run to that, then I thought I will walk to that and then I will run to that.
I think the excitement of the race and everybody else I was just pumped. LOL I would see somebody up ahead and think I will catch them. One girl and I did this the whole way through, catch each other and then fall behind and then catch each other. In the end though she fell back.
In the end when I crossed the finish line they were counting the seconds and the guy say 35 minutes, 27, 28 and then I don't know why but I actually jumped across the finish line. I was pumped. My daughters, mother, husband, and nephew were all at the end yelling. I gave the kids high 5s on the way in. Okay I am rambling, can you tell I am still on cloud 9! :laugh:0 -
Can definitely tell you're on cloud 9. And what a great place to be. Good job!! That is so exciting! I'm so glad you had your family there at the finish line. You are such an inspiration. I hope to run a 5k in November. :flowerforyou:0

Mommared53, I encourage you so much to sign up and just try it. Just doing it is enough, the time is a big factor but not the only thing. If you do sign up, let me know I will be virtually cheering you on!0
