Some people have had success by calculating their calories over the course of a week. I wouldn't worry too much about 68 calories though. Sometimes an ocassional 'cheat' which if planned is not actually a 'cheat' can help to reset some hormone levels and stop your metabolism from crashing completely. Google leptin and cortisol0

The short answer is yes.
You're fine. I promise.0 -
Your body doesn't immediately reset at midnight.
Weight gain/loss is going to happen over the long run meaning if you go over 1000 calories today and under 1000 calories tomorrow it's essentially the same thing for your body.0 -
68 over really isn't so bad. Especially since its clearly not a daily thing for you....
Try looking up your restaurant before you go and picking something when you can look up the nutritional info before hand.0 -
hmm u got me thinking0

Yep! I always looked at my calorie goal for the week more than day-by-day, and i did just fine0

Thanks everyone - I think I need to buy myself a decent mobile phone so I can get this app and search calories before I order0

ohhh im glad you can carry them over0

68 calories over is nothing. As you presumably know, everything we enter here is an estimate. Make a best effort to log accurately, but even with the most diligent logging, the actually number of calories consumed and burned will certainly be off from what was logged. If you're within +/- 100, I would call that a good day. Within +/- 50, I would call perfect. So for you this was a good, and almost perfect day.0

Yes, calories do "carry over". Think of it this way - each time you consume 3,500 calories more than you burn in any given period, you'll gain 1 lb. Conversely, when you consume 3,500 fewer than you burn in any given period, you'll lose 1 lb.
It doesn't matter if it's one day, one week, or one month. When it's all added together, it's a game of net over/under for consumption versus calories expended by the body.0 -
It depends what service provider you're using. I think AT&T still does carryover calories.0

Salads can be so sneaky evil!0

I think worrying about the overall calorie count for the week is fine. If I know a special event is coming up I try to eat about 300-500 calories less the day before so I have a few extra calories for the special event . I think your overall calories is what matters0
