SO I WAS DEFINITELY SET ON GETTING A NOOK TODAY, BUT MY FRIEND TRIED TO SELL ME AN IPAD 2 AND NOW I'M STUCK. I'VE BEEN WANTING AN IPAD FOR SO LONG AND NOW AFTER I "THOUGHT" I MADE UP MY MIND....I'M STUCK.

HERE'S THE PROBLEM.....THE IPAD 2 THAT MY FRIEND HAS..IT'S A 32gb...BUT HE WANTS $550. WOULD YOU SPEND THAT MUCH ON A USED IPAD 2?

    PLEASE HELP

Don't get the nook unless you know how to root devices. I have the Nook Color and it is not very good. With the nook, you ONLY have access to "nook" approved apps, and that means a very minimal amount of free ones. I wouldn't choose the iPad or the Nook. Do a little more research on tablets if that is what you are looking for. You want to at least have access to the android market or amazon.

I had an iPad and I loved it. But you can buy an iPad for $500 so $550 used is not a good price.

anything android can be hacked out to do what ever you want, Apple can not!!! That is why there is not a single i-anything in my house!!!!

^^this....i had the ipad 2 and i felt "locked in"....as in i couldn't customize it to suit my needs and i was stuck buying "I-Everything". I own a DroidX that i have hacked/rooted and changed up the ROM so many times lol and it's still hanging on i love it.

i actually traded my ipad 2 with someone who had an Asus Transformer because I love the freedom of the android platform

Ipad 2, no contest. If you going with an Android 7inch then get the Google Nexus 7, it blows the Nook out of the water. The Nook is a poor quality device on old software that is locked capabilities. The materials are cheap, the screen and back moves alittle, dont do it. IPad 2, Nexus 7, or Samsung 10 inch tablets.

I have a Nook Color and use an N2A card (nook to android). All depends on what you want to do with it.

I love my ipad 2, its only a 16GB one and I paid $350 for it new. i love being able to stream video on it, read books in several formats, loading pictures from my camera to it and all the wonderful apps Apple has to offer :D
I almost went for the kindle fire but it has no camera and its smaller than the ipad.

the camera is a seller too...that's another reason i'm debating....$350? where?

Microcenter, its in store only, so if you dont have one near you, your out of luck. I do know that the Apple store sells them refurbished for about the same cost, you still get the one year warranty on them and I think that 32gb one may be less than what your friend is selling it for. If you get it from Apple, at least you get the warranty and they are good about taking back their items, I had 2 iphones that needed to be replaced and I got them with no problems :D

I have a Kindle(black and white kind), its great for reading.
My wife has an Ipad 2 and she stopped using her kindle.
My kindle was only $70, for that small amount of $$ its great.
Other than that, I would get an Ipad 2

If you want an e-reader, you can get an e-ink kindle for $80. I love my kindle for reading. I love my iPad for pretty much everything else. Unfortunately there's not one device that's great for everything, unless you don't mind reading on an LED display.

Google nexus, $199. Try it out, I am not a fan of apple products for the simple reason that it does not allow for third party applications. But do your research and compare before you make a final purchase. The first step is to determine what you want. Something to read, or a tablet to do multiple stuff.

    Good luck....

P.S I find youtube to be a useful resource when comparing products. Also look at tech reviews

I just got a nook tablet to replace my first gen nook. I kinda wanted an ipad, but they are HUGE. I woldn't carry that around all day, my purse is heavy enough.

I just read my first book on the tablet, and it was fine. Not as good as the eink, but definitely good. I did some web surfing and it is decent. Definitely fits my needs, books first. Web and apps last.

Personally, I would wait around for the mini ipad. I do think the ipad is better if you want to read magazines or consume web content. The UI is better because of the multi-touch features (I also have an iphone and 2g ipod touxh).

But the nook works for me, and fits in pretty much all of my purses. The ipad is 2 pounds, and that's the end of the story for me. I can use my laptop to be portable (or the nook of course). What I don't like about the new nooks vs my old one: I had a 3g radio, so I could shop and download whenever.

    **That ipad is overpriced

I think its awesome you know what the Nexus is. Most people ahve never heard of it. Its hands down the best 7inch tablet and have set the standard. The whole Nexus line has been great but Google doesnt advertise them well. I am on my 3rd Nexus and cant wait to get the tablet.

I have an ipad2 ( on it now!) and looooove it!!! I got a white 32g ( I download lots of movies, music, books etc) . One of my favorite purchases ever. I can do anything on this sucker. It goes with me easily in my purse so it's also very handy. I bought mine in February and so far have read over 25 books through iBooks, kindle, and nook. So I can get my book through whoever I want. I also have four kids that love it too! My husband has one as well that he also reads on, uses for work etc. FaceTime/skyping works great too! 100% worth it.
