Are you trying to gain or lose or maintain? If you truly burn 1300 and eat 1800, you will gain. You understand that, right? The odds you burn 1300 are slim, though.
O.o
Seriously? You have to consider the BMR into what she's burning too. That means that she's burning much more than just that 1300 in exercise. So much, that she's still probably at a huge deficit!
^ This.
People get really confused about the whole 'burn more than you consume' rule - you must, always, always, ALWAYS take into account your BMR calories. Burning 1300 and only consuming 1800 sounds like you'd be heading for medical trouble if you kept that crazy going for a long while.0 -
& I take a brisk walk for at least 3 hours a day, then run/jog on the treadmill for at least 2 hours....and sometimes ride my bike.
You exercise for 5+ hours a day? :-o Yowza. You could scale that back without a problem. And replace some of that cardio with strength training...0 -

I just looked at your profile - you are trying to lose 11 pounds. This ain't the way to do it.
Do yourself a big favor (as my previous post stated, unless you are doing this on the advice of a doctor, and if you are I'd have a long talk with Doc about it and why they want you to do this to yourself with 11 pounds to lose!)...
Go back through the setup process, and choose your honest lifestyle not including exercise. Select "1/2 pound a week" or if you're in a huge hurry "1 pound a week" (but 1 lb/wk is going to be hard to sustain with 11 to go, trust me). Log all your exercise and eat at least most of those calories back.
Eating "net zero" calories (burning every calorie you eat in exercise each day) is WEAPONS-GRADE FOOLISH (in the absence of a specific medical condition or some other issue that a trained and competent medical professional is coaching you through).0 -
This is very good advice! Also, how do you expect to continue exercising 5hours every day? There are more efficient ways to burn fat, building muscle being one of them so that your RMR becomes higher (meaning you're burning more cals when you're sleeping) and HIIT type cardio to burn lots of calories in a short amount of time. As for the person who said you're eating too much? Are you gaining? Losing? Maintaining? People read way too much into the scientific aspect of weight loss and get hung up in mathematical formulas, etc. If I start gaining a few pounds? Then what I'm doing isn't working. Are my clothes getting too big? Then I up my calories the HEALTHY way! Am I feeling good? Then keep doing what I'm doing. Am I feeling crappy? Then I go back in my eating and see how much slop I've been putting in my body. There are as many ways to lose weight as there are ppl who are trying to lose weight and what works for me may not work for you. KNOW your body, your lifestyle and figure out what's working for YOU!0

She didn't say she burned 1300/day in EXERCISE, she said she burned 1300 a day total. Which is why I said 'fat chance' (that your total burn is that LOW). Why would someone say "I burn 1300 calories per day" if they meant they burn 2900 of whatever her actual total burn is? How are we supposed to know her total burn? :noway:0 -
I'm 5'1" 122-123 lbs. I eat around 1800-2000 cals a day and burn around 1300 and sometimes more..
I've been told I should only eat as much as I burn, so If I burn 1300 I should only eat 1300 total..is this true?
Because now I just feel horrible and feel all the work I've been putting in is garbage...
First of all, NO. You are NOT eating too much. Today, I have eaten over 2000 calories and burned off only 760. I'm a little bigger than you...about an inch taller and 30 pounds more. :-/
You burn off more than just what you EXERCISE off! You are still on a big deficit!
Second, how are you burning that much as little as you are? O.o
Third, we're neighbors!I'm in Port Richey.
Ah, oh really? lol.0 -
I hardly ever get a workout in. (Terrible, I know.) Therefore, I wouldn't be able to eat anything. Obviously, this isn't true. I eat 1700 a day to maintain at 114. If I exercise, I eat more. You're doing great. In fact, as much as you burn, you could stand to eat much more if you wanted and still lose weight. If ain't broke, don't fix it.0
