New to the Tri game and loving it thus far. Currently riding my Dad's 1985 Cannondale  Considering a change and recently found a great buy on a Scott Tri bike. Unsure if it's the right choice. Thoughts?

I ride a road bike but added aero bars. A couple of considerations: Do you ride in the mountains at all? (Road bike better) Will you ride by yourself primarily? (Tri Bike better) What kind of wheels does the bike have? (Really deep section wheels on many Tri bikes are horrible in cross winds, so is it windy where you live?) Will you be entering triathlons or Time Trials regularly? (Tri bike better)

I guess if I just had one bike for the road, it wouldn't be a Tri bike. But it would be a good second or third bike. In my case it would be a good 4th or 5th bike (after a mountain trail bike and a mountain downhill bike).

I just uploaded a video of riding down a mountain road in Glacier National Park Montana. I had to ride up first, a true tri bike would not have climbed up that well. http://youtu.be/g5mcCMe16C4

a good one is expensive...if the cannondale fits you, I would continue with that until you are absolutely sure...take your time

I ride mainly on the roaads, no mountains here. The wheels are normal though I have seen the deep sections on other bikes. I try to generally ride with someone else especially on my longer training rides. I am doing my first triathlon this summer but definitely know it will NOT be my last. I alos have already added aero bars to my road bike along with a tune-up and a few fitting sessions. It's a good bike but has some issues for sure. I am headed to look at the Scott Tri bike this morning. At least worth a look!
