I love cooking. It's fun, it's productive, it's therapeutic, and you get to see others enjoying what you've made. I could happily spend 2 hours or more making and decorating cupcakes.. like I did yesterday. Somehow I was disciplined and only ate one. :drinker:

Does anyone have any recipes that take work, and effort and time, something you can really get into, but that aren't too bad for you?

For exampe, croissants take hours, and I'm so proud of myself to make them, but they have like, an ounce of butter in each one. Same for cakes, and cookies. I've seen so many "Quick and easy - under 100 cals!" type recipes on here, but I want the distaction of spending an hour or more in the kitchen, but then the enjoyment and satisfaction of eating it after.

I don't mind sweet or savoury, any ideas?

Hello fellow lover of the kitchen! :-) I make a great jambalaya! I take the basic recipe from Emeril (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/emeril-lagasse/cajun-jambalaya-recipe2/index.html), but I use duck instead of chicken!. I use the duck to make the stock, and then use that duck's meat in the recipe. It's SOOO good. It's great with French Bread, which you can make from scratch too! I also use Chicken Sausage instead of Andouille (not a red-meat eater).

Yum, that looks really good, I'll have to try that! :)
