Colon detox

I am thinking is starting a colon detox. Who has tried it?
I read that sometimes the colon is blocked so a person doesn't lose any weight... I just started on MFP, I'm going to see what happens in the next week or two. But do you advise against it or not?

If you just started maybe you should give the whole calorie counting/ eating good food/ exercising bit before "colon clensing".... you will learn about clenses in 3...2....1....
  • Yes, I did a Dr. Natura after a bout with divaticulitis, you would NOT believe the stuff that comes out. Just sayin... I felt so much better, and my skin was smoother, and no more gut problems. I have heard it is excellent for constipation and IBS too.

About 99% of this is pure...literally, crap.

Your colon cleanses itself. These companies give innocent people a plausible reason or 'easy way' to lose weight, and people do it. Most doctors and peeps here will advise against it. You simply don't need to do this.

Eat right, exercise, leave your poor colon alone :P

Unless there is a valid medical reason a Doctor has recommended one there is no need to. Eating enough fats, fibre and drinking enough water will clean it out.

You're body is perfectly capable of detoxing itself without you having to resort to any type of intervention.

Eat well, exercise if you feel like it but leave your colon to it's own devices.

Unless you are suffering from a medical condition your colon does an admirable job of cleansing and detoxing itself on a regular basis. All you need is an adequate supply of fibre (fruits, vegetable, whole grains) and water and you can flush your troubles away without buying any questionable products.

do you poop? then it is not blocked. A real colon blockage will land you in the hospital quickly.

 I did one once. I basically took a bunch of laxatives and and drank a ton of gatorade. I was absolutely miserable and couldn't leave the bathroom for about 16 hours. Followed by a very very painful and humiliating procedure called a colonoscopy (wasn't a damn thing left up there that needed to be detoxed after all that, clean as you get). All under a doctor's recommendation and supervision. Not exactly sure why someone would chose to do that to themselves.

Unless you quit eating altogether your colon will fill up again... that's what it does. So whatever weight you suddenly lose will be gained right back :) Plus spending 7 days on the toilet isn't worth it to me.

Besides, we're all full of *kitten*, join the club ;-))
