Travelling for 9 days....

So I've been so strict for the past month, and remembering why I love exercising. (lost a few cms although no kgs)
Now I'm off travelling through Ireland on a road trip for 9 days.
Worried as
1. there won't be the time / opportunity for exercise (other than walking tours and such - which is alot less streneous than my normal work outs)
2. I am going with one other girl - I can't do the "Oh I'm not drinking as much anymore" I've been using lately with out affecting her experience (come on it's Ireland)
3. The girl is quite a bit unhealthier than I am.
While I know the "meals to look for when eating out every meal"
I'm worried at how much I've been relying on MFP lately for discouragement from eating badly.
Any suggestions on things to keep me motivated while I'm away?? (My main issues are 1. drinking and 2. snacking)

As for the drinking, could you get a large beer or two and then just nurse them -- really playing up the having fun aspect and drinking more slowly. You don't have to keep up with your gal pal.
The walking may burn more than you realize, even though it's not your usual workout.
Try to drink lots of water during the day and make snacks as healthy as you're able to.
Also, have a lighter breakfast and lunch, so you have room for a "vacation" dinner, or vice versa. On days you have a hearty breakfast, grab a yogurt and fruit for lunch.
I know it's really hard when you're traveling because I'd probably end up splurging more than I should (since I done that in the past.) It's easy to say, but hard to do.
Another option is to figure out what your maintenance level is, and figure out how much you're burning by all the walking you're doing, and then try to stick with that. (You'll won't lose, but you won't gain either -- or at least minimize gain for the 9 days you're away. (In some cases, for some people and some trips, it may be worth a pound or two, and then getting back on track when you get back home. For others, it's not worth it.) I'm doing a college trip with my daughter in a few weeks. We'll be traveling, but for THAT, it's not worth it to splurge. If I was going to be somewhere with cool new foods/drinks (like a few years ago when we went to Puerto Rico for a week, it was definitely cool to try all the new things especially since we were the guests of a home team in San Juan.
Have fun!!
Best wishes!!0
