I am in need of 2 heart rate monitors.

I was looking to get some advice on: the most reasonable price to pay, which brands are the best, what kind of features am I supposed to be looking for, the best place to purchase them..

Thanks for any help!

You'll find that the Polar brand is highly recommended here on the boards. As far as features, depends on what you want out of it. You want a model that has a chest strap, not watch-only. The more info you can enter about yourself, the better, such as gender, height, weight, activity level, max heart rate, etc. Some let you save workouts (helpful if you're doing multiple things, like circuit training followed by a walk or run, etc), some have alarms that let you know when your heart rate is too low or too high, things like that.

Prices vary anywhere from about $70 to over $100 depending on what you get and where you get it. Amazon or other online sites are often less expensive that local stores. Or, you can always check eBay - I was looking for either a Polar or a New Balance N4. Looked for both on eBay & put auctions for brand new items on my watchlist. The New Balance came up first and I got it for $26 (retails for $70). Works great!

I've had 2 different Polar models that I've been happy with, FT7 & FT4. Search for reviews on Amazon.
  • Ive been doing alot a research and for the money polar compares to the garmins and nikes and is like 100$-150$ cheaper

I ordered a Polar FT7 this morning from Amazon before seeing this thread. It is supposed to provide calories used in my workouts so I am hoping that will help me.

I like weight lifting. The calories used in weight lifting can vary so much from person to person (according to the MFP help files) that I felt like I need some help in estimating them.

The FT60 is supposed to be fabulous and has better reviews, but I think its complexity (and price) is more than I need.
