Outdoor exercise, but no partner?

I live right near these great trails - they used to be railroad tracks but have been turned into nice wooded trails for walking/running and biking. I've gone for walks with my boyfriend, but I'd love to use them to jog, but I don't have anyone to go with me! I'm new to the area and don't have much for friends here. I've read tips for running alone - bring pepper spray, be aware, but they always say to stay out of wooded areas where there aren't many people around... well these trails are exactly that, but I love them for how natural they are and off of the roads. What can I do? Any suggestions? Thanks!
