all these "diet" commercials telling you take this pill, sprinkle this on your food, eat this fruit, drink that shake and you will lose tons of weight super fast and go from a size 24 to a size 2 in just weeks! For me it is hard work, moving my butt and eatting right. It is taking me lots of time good days and not so good days. I know that if i put my hard work into place and stick to it, even with a set back day or a few that i will get good honest, healthy results. Is anyone else out there feeling the same?

for me it is hard work, too, but I think for some people it is at least a push to try losing weight, whether it's pills or whatever and if it works fine, if not, hopefully, they will eventually come to MFP:)0

Yep, I've tried them all. The only thing that works is changing how your brain ticks. Good luck!0

All those pills and powders for weight loss are temporary solutions. Once you stop taking them and return to your normal eating habits the weight will come back. I worry about their effect on health as well. Who knows what chemicals are in them?
The best way to lose weight is to change your eating habits for life. It should be a lifestyle change that is sustainable. Anything else is just a quick fix.0 -
Hey Sue...
It is a battle! and I think about choices, etc - every day...... I never tried pills and food replacements - I will say - because I thought - as soon as I loose the weight and eat real food again - I'll be back in the same boat.......
so - my success is in logging...... and I know that is not great for everyone........ but it works for me...
Now - if I drink a bottle of wine - I record it.... or 6 bottles of beer - I record it.... I'm not a fruit and veggie gal - so there are more challenges for me!
I look to celebrate life with my loved ones and friends..... and so my path to "thinness" will NEVER be a quick one.... but being conscious is half the battle, right?!
Keep on chuggin', Sue.... the results will come.... for all of us!

Totally. I tried Medifast (one of those diet programs) and quit after three weeks due to expensive foods and weird side effects. (The soy in the food was giving me weird rashes, hot flashes, etc.) Still, I have a co-worker who swears up and down on that program, as he was very successful with it. He is in the minority though, I believe. Personally, having lost 50+ pounds twice in my life, to gain it all back within two to three years, my issue is with my attitude to food and my lack of self-discipline...something nothing but hard work can give me. They don't make a pill for that!0

Funny how pretty much all weight loss products and supplements have the disclaimer:
USE IN CONCORDANCE WITH A BALANCED DIET AND EXERCISE.
in tiny tiny letters at the bottom of the commercial.0 -
The problem is that the diet industry sees nothing but dollar signs in the form of all the suckers who desperately want to believe that there's a magic pill/fairy dust that will make them lose weight without all that icky self-discipline and hard work stuff. How many times do you see/hear people say "What the heck, I'll try it - I've got nothing to lose". They spend their $19.99, find out it doesn't work, then move on to the next "miracle supplement"....and the next sucker steps right up behind them, saying "What the heck, I'll try it - I've got nothing to lose". As long as there are people who believe the B.S. (or WANT to believe it), the bogus "miracles" will keep popping up.0

I was thinking the same thing today, I was watching my meager 30 minutes of television and a program where they deliver food to you was on. I got so frustrated at the commercial I turned the TV off and walked away.
Why? Because the people who lost weight will put it back on because they didn't learn how to change their LIFE. They just went on a diet, and didn't learn how to maintain their loss. It makes me sad because so many people, me included, fall or have fallen for these diet scams. *sigh*0 -
yeah, isn't funny how they tell us "Don't eat that, eat this" to lose weight? Who even thinks eating more of something else will help you lose?0

It's hard work for me too, lots of hard work. It also annoys me when people ask what I've done to lose the weight thinking it's some miracle over night pill or something.0
