Hello everyone,
I'm new here - and have a LOT of weight to lose. I'm 310 lbs and am at my heaviest ever. My weight is the big problem in my life. I let it define me and it effects every part of my life and especially my confidence. I am VERY self conscious of it and from time to time, have difficulty leaving the house, I'm so ashamed of the way I am. I am terrified of the health implications down the line for me.
I have tried to lose weight a million times. I reckon I've lost about 30 stones over the years but have put them all back on. I want to be fit and healthy for my young kids and I'd love to have one more baby. I'm now 40 so time is ticking!!!
I took up cycling a few months ago but after a 50k cycle, I didn't get back on the bike. I'm back on it again as of this morning and I'm workign towards a 65k cycle in 2 months - planning to train every day for it.
And I'm here!!!! Woo Hoo!!
I have looked at some of you guys' before & after pics and found them hugely inspirational!
I'm now trying to figure out how to use MFP. I have set up my ticker and am very familiar with forums so all ok on those fronts. I have calculated my BMR but don't know how to use that to figure out how many calories I should be using. Anyone able to point me in the right direction on that?
Thanks in advance!

Hi. Congratulations on getting the first step to a healthier you. Be patient. Be motivated (I can help with that =) ) And never lose sight of why you are making the change.

As for MFP, you can do what I do and not worry too much about BMR and other nonsense. I just set a daily calorie goal and try to meet that everyday.

I mainly use MFP to track exactly what I eat and how much eat I. It's a self-accountability system. So when I go hmm...I'm not losing any weight..let's see: I sit on my butt all day and I had two cheeseburger and a big gulp for lunch the last week...maybe that's why. My theory has always been calories in < calories out = weight loss.

It's what works for me. Find a system that works for you.

Feel free to add me as a friend. I'm always looking for a support system. Let's help each other out.
