How many cals to cut when close to weight goal?

I'm around 212 lbs. right now, and I'm aiming for 200 lbs.

Since last August, I've been on the -2 lbs/week diet plan, and it worked pretty well. However, once I hit 210, I found it hard to stay within my calorie goals. I kept wanting to eat more. So, I bumped my calorie goal back to -1 lb./week.

I also did this because I was afraid of starving my body and actually gaining more weight in the long run. Is this a rational fear? What would some of you do in this situation? Will I be OK if I continue on the -2 lbs./week plan, without having to deal with weight gain because of my body retaining fat because of starvation mode?

You can try 1.5 if you're concerned.

I think as long as you're eating back the calories you exercise and you're getting your protein, vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats, you should be fine to stick at 2lbs per week.

If your body really seems hungry though, it might be because you're not eating enough. On the other hand, maybe try upping your protein a little bit to see if that helps with satiety.

unless you 6 foot 4 then 200 isnt real lean so id say you can drop as fast as you want, when you hit 15% body fat or lower it becomes more of a challange

    Thanks for the advice.

I think I'll revert back to -2 lbs./week, until I hit 200, and then I'll figure out another diet plan from there.
