I LOVE the calorie counter on MFP. I've never tried counting calories before now and it makes sense and is adaptable to any diet. I use it to budget for the food I love, and it makes it that much easier to turn down the second cookie or a surprise temptation in the form of leftover cake, because I know I get a treat later. I'm very much a part of the philosophy to enjoy life while you can, but if that mentality is taken too far, your life will be drastically less enjoyable in a short amount of time.0

I wonder this too. Sometimes I give in and sometimes I don't. I find if I don't eat any carbs, then I don't crave them. This way if I want I can have a small dessert and I don't binge all day.0

cravings are normally caused by carbs, especially if ur starting to crave sweet things. Eat protein, ive been told by a nutritionalist that protein is key to stop cravings and since i have its worked0

I hear that! I can completely relate. Overall, I eat pretty healthy but I definitely have a sweet tooth and a LOVE for yummy carbs and sugars. There are a three things that I have found to work pretty well:
1. Print out some motivational pictures of what you want your body to look like when you reach your goal. Mine include some of my fav. celebs like Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Jessica Alba, Mila Kunis, etc. etc. And then tape it to the inside of your pantry or where ever you go for treats. (you could always put it on your phone or something if you dont want others to see
2. This may seem silly- but a friend recommended it to me and it does work if you take the time to do it. Whenever you're having a really bad craving and you cant stop thinking about one specific thing... write it down on a little sheet of paper in as much detail as possible (ex. I want a heaping bowl of ice cream with chocolate syrup, caramel, nuts, and whipped cream!) and then tear it up and throw it away!! The act of ridding the craving makes you proud and motivated
3. Put this quote somewhere that you will see it everyday. "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels." It is so simple but SO TRUE!!
Mind you* sometimes treating yourself is really okay. If you have been craving something all day long- let yourself have it! (in moderation-NOT throwing away your whole day with it) and then just do your favorite work out to burn it off!
Sorry this is so long- it is just something I really struggle with and am more than happy to share my own tricks
Good Luck0 -

I am the same way. If I start my day with sugary cereal I want sugary carbs all day. If you start out healthy- you want to stay healthy0 -
just focus on your exercising and staying really active throughout your day! you'll find out your burning more then you think if your constantly moving about during the day0

Thank you people, this is great! ..and Gogretchen1, those are some god trick, will try it myself, thanx...god luck to you too!0

I crave sugary food too. Thanks for the hints.
somehow eating fruit doesn't seem to perpetuate the sugar cravings like eating lollies or chocolate or cakes - it satisfies my sweet craving and doesn't make me want to keep on eating more sugar0
