Ok so a MFP friend posted a status and now it has me curious. How much walking does one have to do to be considered lightly active?

I have a mostly sedentary (I don't know if I spelled it correctly but I'm not looking for a proof reader) job and I wear a pedometer to log my walking. Based on that I can kind of figure out how much I am actually up and walking around.

    You spelled it right.

I get 10,000 steps a day and just went and changed my sedentary MFP setting up so that it predicted what my Fitbit average daily burn is and it took setting MFP to "Active". Well, "Active" is about 30 calories too high but it's the closest setting. I'm surprised. I don't think I walk as much as a waitress, its example for "Active". Maybe she works short shifts.

My pedometer currently reads 6076 steps for today and I still have an hour left in my shift. I put it on as I'm walking out my door for work and take it off when I get home. Since I work 3-11 it's not like there is much to do when i get off but if I leave early before work to do something I wear it.

So obviously I'm going to have an activity level of a bump on a log LOL but I know she is more genuinely interested in knowing. I told her I would keep an eye out and try to find an answer to her question since she doesn't have access to a computer right now.

    Steps Per Day Activity Level
    <5,000 Sedentary
    5,000 - 7,499 Low active
    7,500 - 9,999 Somewhat active
    >10,000 Active
    >12,500 Highly active

this is all I have found...I kind of wish it had it closer to miles or something but I know everyone's stride is different
