Body Blueprint?

Loving this site, it is great and I thought I would ask a question that has been bothering me for a long time. Do people have a "body blueprint", or is that a made up excuse to be out of shape? Is it possible that you are totally healthy while over weight? Is it true that some people just aren't made to be fit and lean? I am about 10 lbs over weight, and some friends and family say, "that's just your build, you're curvey accept it blah blah". I hope they are wrong but I would hate to be working toward something that is never going to happen for me. Any advice or opinions? Thank you.

Yes, genetics play a large part in how we're built and where and how we store fat.
That's not to say it's not possible to lose that extra 10 lbs and that you're stuck with it, but it's very possible that because of the way your body is built, it will be a lot more difficult to lose than someone else.0 -
Ok, that is helpful. Thank you for the response. I'm willing to work hard, I just don't want it to be for nothing.0

Genetics do play a big part in where/how our body stores fat/how fast we can lose it, but actual obesity or just generally being overweight is actually very rarely caused by any sort of genetics. Mostly I think saying it's down to genetics is an excuse for people who don't have the will power to stick it out in the long run.
Work hard and you'll get there eventually0
