Part-time active job: what activity level are we?

Hey all,

I am a part-time waitress -- I wait tables 3-4 times a week, in a very large restaurant that involves a ton of walking and lifting. I wouldn't hesitate to say that on the days I wait, my activity level is "lightly active." However, on the days I don't work, I do a LOT of sitting around! On those days, I wouldn't hesitate to say I'm "sedentary."

Today I had a 6 1/2 hour shift, and logged it as 1 hour of "slow walking 2.0 miles per hour" -- but I feel like I'm cheating when I log part of my daily life as exercise. Yet I don't want to set my level as "Lightly active" for fear of eating too many calories on the days I just lounge around reading!

Does anyone else have this problem? Active some days (regularly) and then sedentary others? How do you work around that in terms of logging exercise and calories?

I don't know if there is a right or wrong answer.
But me personally... I'd probably do what you're doing now and just log in like 45 - 1 hour of walking.

I am in this same situation. I am not sure if I should add the walking I do at work as additional exercise, or if the "lightly active" lifestyle level already is taking this activity (lots of standing/walking/stairs) into account. Any insight is appreciated.
