Low glycemic eating--less carbs, more?

My current MFP carb goal is 186, but I think it needs to be lower. If I cut the carbs to consume between 50-100, what should I be eating to make sure I eat the correct amount of calories? My base calorie intake is suggested at 1363. Any guidance is appreciated!

Low glycemic eating has to do more with the kinds of carbs you eat rather than grams of carbohydrates. You can look up the glycemic index of foods which is an indicator of the effect that food will have on blood sugar levels once it is consumed. Foods with higher glycemic index cause bigger spikes in blood sugar. I usually do 30-40% of my calories from carbs. 30% of 1363 is 409. Each gram of carbohydrate has 4 calories. So, approximately 102 grams per day is 30% of the calories from carbs.

I eat low glycemic and try to keep the carbs at or under 40%. I don't always do it and if it goes over sometimes, that's ok. When you eat a lot of fruit, which you should and which is extremely good for you, it's easy to go over that.

    40% carbohydrates, 40% fat and 20% protein.
