Rollergirl on a weight loss and fitness journey

So I'm back at this again....I joined 2 1/2 years ago and lost about 18 lbs...I was pretty close to my goal but that summer vacation came and went. I still looked fat in vacation pictures so I gave up and stopped trying.
Fast forward another year and I was in the midst of roller derby! I started derby thinking it was a great way to get myself in shape (and it has) but practicing 2-3 hours 2-3 times a week is not a free ride to weight loss. I started eating more and worse because I "deserved" it after a hard workout. Unfortunately this transferred over into my non-practice days as well when I wasn't burning 900 calories.
Fast forward and now I've gained 10lbs since starting derby. Exactly the opposite of what was supposed to happen. I am at my all-time heaviest and it sucks. I've been plagued with knee pain and plantar fasciitis for the past month so I haven't been skating. Instead, I've been eating b/c not skating when you love it so much is depressing.

Now it's time to get myself back on track while I'm off-skates. There's not much derby season left and my goal is to lose 30lbs and improve my fitness level so I can come back next January stronger than ever. I'm tired of being the teammate with sucky endurance, crap reaction time, and always out b/c of aches and pains.

I've always loved rollerderby. It's an awesome sport. I was a fan of the Rollergirls series that followed the girls in Austin. Hats off to you girls that kick *kitten* and take names. Best of luck on your new fitness journey.

I've always thought roller derby looked way cool - good for you for doing it!! Once you start tracking calories again the weight will just fall off!! Good luck!
