Nightmare/frustrating situation

So it was a friend's birthday yesterday. I got dragged to a house party about 30 km outside of town last night. I don't have a car, so caught a lift with a friend who said we could go for a short while and then head back into town. I even double checked with him that he was planning on coming back into the city. Point being, I was at the mercy of my friend for transportation - no public transportation and can't even catch a cab back from there.

I brought 3 beer - I had room in my calories for the day, and I budgeted it in. Was feeling good about the situation, and I figured that 3 beer would be a good amount for the 2-3 hours we were supposed to be there. Well, as soon as we get there, my driving friend immediately revokes his intention of staying a couple of hours, and announces that we're going to spend the night instead.

Frustration #1 - losing on a healthy night of sleep, wasn't looking forward to having to fight for a single couch among 5 guests who were staying the night.

Frustration #2 - the birthday boy is a great host, and part of that was ensuring an overabundance of party food... You know the sort - BIG THICK burgers, lots of chocolate cake, bags of chips everywhere, and of course, extra beer.

Frustration #3 - some of the friends I haven't seen in a couple of months weren't aware of my new lifestyle and goals, so continually offered me all of the items from #2, or repeatedly talked about how good various things were... even after I explained that I was trying to eat healthy and increase my fitness.

I did quite well all night navigating this situation, but considered I thought we'd be leaving around 9... I finally caved around 1am (well past my regular sleeping time, and into the territory of not eating for 6+ hours) and had a couple of handfuls of chips and a small piece of cake, as well as an extra beer. I couldn't even sleep to avoid hunger, as the only area to sleep had 4 other rowdy people in it. About 10 minutes after I finally ate... my driver announced that he WASN'T going to stay, and could now drive me home. -_-

Honestly it wasn't a terrible night... I enjoyed the company of everyone and I didn't even reach my "maintenance" calories for the day (I put in almost 700 calories of exercise which helped offset), but was definitely over my reduction calories. Of course, I weighed in this morning (my official weigh in is tomorrow) and I've gained 3 lbs from the low point I had reached on Thurs night. I know it's mostly water weight due to the increased sodium intake, eating unhealthy foods super late at night, and not getting a proper rest, but overall I'm just frustrated knowing that instead of being down 0.5 lbs this week, I'll probably weigh in at +1.5 lbs tomorrow morning (and then promptly dip back down next week).

    This is why I absolutely always drive myself when I can.

    It's only 1 night, you had fun, get back after it today!

    Thanks, and I intend to! (Drinking my pre-lifting shake right now) :)

    I guess I'll avoid going to see that friend until I can bike the 30k, then it doesn't matter WHAT I have while I'm there, I'll burn it off on the trip home!
