beginer weight lifter

Im a 25 year old female, i do cardio 3 times a week for 20-45 min, but i really want to start lifting weights. I have a home gym, and a bench press. But i dont know where to start as far as a routine, reps or how much weight i should start with. Anyone willing to help me out??? please please please people..:)

there's also new rules of lifting for women (a book)
those programs are good for beginners because they emphasize compound exercises that work multiple muscles at once so you get more bang for your lifting buck0
