Bananas

Are bananas a good post swim food? I ask because i don't if they are worth the high carb count. I have a protein bar before i swim. I swim for 45 minutes alternating crawl and breaststroke. Do i need anything after? Or is it just that we see sports stars eating bananas so we assume they must be good?

I eat a half banana before I workout because it regulates your blood sugar. I found that if i didn't eat before I worked out I would get very shakey and bananas are the only thing that have helped so far without aking me feel too full to work out. I'm not sure if there are benefits post workout, though.0

Ok, so do you think i should eat my protein bar before or after? Or half before and half after?
I was 351lbs 10 weeks ago and i've lost 45lbs so far so i'm mainly concerned about losing muscle mass too.0 -

Eat the protein bar after. The food you eat before a swim is for energy so eat something with carbs. The food you eat after is for recovery so eat something with both protein and carbs. Also, immediately after a workout the body increases its rate of nutrient absorption.0
