Calf cramps

I have been running with a friend of mine, and his calf muscles keep cramping up while we are running. Do you think compression sleeves would help? What other suggestions can you give? He does stretch out before.

Potassium helps. Eating bananas beforehand will help and during the the cramp, drink pickle juice. It clears it up for me almost immediately. (not easy when your running I know)0

Two suggestions- adequate hydration (a must!) and adequate Calcium. Had problems in this area until a doctor friend told me to increase my Calcium intake. No problems since.0

I was having this same problem until I went and got properly fitted for running shoes. Turns out my pronation was causing my calf to cramp up. I have run farther every day since than I was ever able to before!0
