strength training suggestions?

I currently do a kickboxing class at a martial arts studio 3 days a week and we do mostly bag work so I'm wondering if that will help me tone up or is that just straight cardio. At the gym, I do cardio as well so I KNOW I need to incorporate weights.
I have broad shoulders and would really like to work on building muscle and toning my arms. Any ideas?
