Still Considering South Beach

I am considering starting SBD next week. I mostly want to do it because I am truly addicted to bad carbs. Does the diet really curb your cravings for them?
Also, to me, SBD seems like a good eating plan, after you get out of phase one. As in eating plan, I mean for life. I would like my diet to consist more of lean meats, fresh fruits and veggies and some whole grains. Is SBD a good starting point?
Thanks MFP!

south beach is a lot easier to do than something like atkins, but (for me) the weight loss was a lot slower.
it really does kill your cravings for carbs though.0 -

I really want my carb cravings to be left behind! I try so hard to say no, but it is seriously an addiction!0 -
The first couple of days will be hard, after that the cravings will go away. You don't have to do Phase One. I never have.0
