So I have a hard time figuring out when I eat food from work at the cafeteria how many calories are in meals. Like this morning I did not have time to pack my lunch, so I had an omelet which consisted of 2 eggs green pepper, tomato, onion and a little salsa on top for flavor....but they dont have a nutrition guide for it in the cafeteria and when I type in "omelet" or "veggie omelet" I get quite a few choices and calorie ranges. I hate guessing because I have no idea where I stand. Also, sometimes they make my omelet with real eggs and sometimes they make it from eggs in a carton I've noticed. Is there a big difference in calories? How do you estimate calories when there is no nutritional guide?

it takes time, but if you enter the items individually, you'll get the information you need. Then once you've done that, then if the calorie and nutrition count is a good one for you, then saqve it as a meal and eat only that any time you are stuck eating in the cafeteria and you'll know that you've made a good choice.

If the calories count doesn't make you happy, then redouble your efforts to pack your own lunch from now on or be sure to go for a run or walk or go to the gym after work, to burn the extra calories.

I would break it apart and add it into your food diary that way. Like if you know it is two eggs then put it in as two eggs. If your not sure which kind they use I would just put in which ever is higher in calories. Just to be sure. And then estimate on how much peppers and onions are in there and add those. But that is just how I would do it. Someone else might have a different opinion.

I'm having the same problem trying to plan for tomorrow night. I'm eating a dinner that someone else is preparing. I know that we're having chicken enchilladas, but there is a lot of room for variance when I try to just find something generic in the database to use. I don't know what the ingredients will be to be able to enter it that way. I decided to just use the one in the database with the most calories. I haven't eaten that great this week so it won't kill me if I'm under for the day. If I were worried about eating too few calories, I would pick something at the low end of the range.

Thank you for your help! I am new to calorie counting and don't really know what I'm doing most days :) I usually bring my lunch so I can calculate pretty easily, but today was running late and I am finding it is hard to figure it out in a cafeteria setting!
