I started Atkins yesterday, a family decision as we all need to lose weight. I need some supportive friends that will help me break through the cravings and stay true to my plans. Hoping to make it a lifetime change.

I'm on week two of induction. Still learning it, hoping this will become my way of life, cause I feel much better than I usually do this time of year, and I'm not craving junkfood every ten minutes!0

I love Atkins. I lost 17 lbs. a few years ago and then life got in the way. I am new to MFP and starting at the gym next week after
an initial dr. appt to make sure I am good to go. I am starting completely fresh and could use buddies that are also "carb" conscious.
Feel free to add me !!0 -

I'm not doing Atkins, but try to eat low carb and higher protein. Trying to lose body fat % as well as weight, and was gutted at my last check in with my PT when I found out my body fat % had risen because I wasn't eating enough protein. Been trying to eat higher protein in my meals but finding it a bit hard, so might try a protein shake after working out. Feel free to add me if you want )0

I would like to extend an invite to any of you not already over there.
We have a group called "Low Carber Daily Forum" where Atkins, South Beach, Paleo, Primal, medical-advisement of low carb intakes can come and be welcomed. We have a great group of members who give wonderful support, and of course, food porn at your disposal whenever needed. Its also a place people can join in and not fear retribution over the choice you have made within this category of intake. Clearly, MFP recognizes intakes of low-carb so its definitely not....a...bad....thing.
Come on over!0 -
Thank you all!! I have a question though... how do you eat the lower carbs without killing your budget? we have spent over 600 bucks in the last two weeks which is about 400 more than normal!! How can i tone it down?0

Well.... you have to be good at researching which stores give you the better deals, or perhaps check out your local Sams or BJs, or Costcos even.
I dont spend any more money on fresh food at all.
Every three months I purchase bulk meats that I clean at home (half a cow, half a pig, whole roaster chickens, whole turkeys, whole fish, etc)... I clean them myself, break them down into four-portion meals, some get marinated, some get season rubbed, while others are left plain and are frozen in individual 4-packs *(dated as well).
Fresh vegetables I purchase weekly. When I find the reduced rack has produce, Ill raid it first... one time I emptied the entire rack - completely perfect food and nothing wrong with it. Went home with that, prepped it up - froze half for future meals (my own veggie mixes), the other half I broke down even further: one stash was roasted in the oven, the other stash was used for the next couple of days.
Bread/pasta/rice/corn is purchased minimally and that all goes to my husband. I cant eat those foods due to a metabolic disorder.
I only get berries for myself, but any fruit my husband wants, he gets.
You just have to be good about knowing where to go for bargains, bulk pricing and perhaps the occasional produce rack with reduced packages. Often you will find its not even old... they just need to move product to bring in the next shipment...0 -
Started last saturday. Monday to tuesday I felt tired and a little dizzy. So I reread some parts of the book and found that I need to increase my salt intake. As advised I got some Bouillon Pur from Knorr to mix and drink at the office. Now I´m really fine. I´m never hungry. I actually have to go to eat to get treat my body to food and I have a hard time getting enough of it. Have not stepped onto the scale yet but I can feel and see that my fat on my belly and hips is melting. My suits as well as jeans feel much more comfortable already.
I do miss a good breakfast, because there is no restaurant I could stop by to get some scrambled eggs and ham or similar before getting to the office. However if you got an iPhone install Twitter, Instagram or even better Hashtag and search for Atkins. You will find lots of great ideas (pictures and text) from other people.0 -

I have to tell you, I spend less on fresh produce and my husband gets a kick out of the quantity that comes home.
They had a sign-up list at work for our company BBQ. I signed up to bring a vegetable tray with a homemade dip. We are about 45 in our dept alone.
I didnt spend more than $25.00 for fresh produce alone for this event.0 -
