Just curious...today is my day off from working out, but I feel like I'm going to run out or over my calorie intake.
Does anybody do minor things on their days off? Like running up and down the stairs for 10 minutes, etc...just to gain a few extra calories to tack onto your total amount?
I knew this is probably retarded but ya know.

Oh absolutely! Every little bit helps!! In the winter time I used to slap on my HRM and dance around my room like a fool to get in an extra 20 minutes of calorie burning!!
When I did it, I would just make sure the total time was 20+ minutes

It's ok not to do anything, but if you really want to feel good, enjoy the weather and take a nice walk....it counts0

If it concerns you then doing something enjoyable and very light should be ok. Some light stretching, a nice leisurely walk, etc. It's not just your body parts you've been concentrating on in your workouts that need a break though, your heart needs it too, so don't do anything too extensive. I know a lot of people, and I myself don't worry too much about going over on my days off and it has worked beautifully.. I think taking advantage of a day off does your body good.0

I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to move at all on your rest day ;-p

When doing strength training in the off season I just listen to my body some of the rest days I need to do nothing others I can do light activity if you feel like you can/want to do something then do it no one can know your body better than you.0

Going over once in a while won't send the weight piling back on, but it you are feeling restless, I agree with what others have said - enjoy a leisurely walk. It aids in digestion and burns a fair amount of calories.0

Would it help to see your calorie deficit as something established over a week, not day by day?
That way you're able to even things out over the week, and you can have a rest day without worrying too much about calories.0 -
Oh yes! Even on my days off I try to do a little something to add some calories back. I have a hard time eating under without any added calories from exercise, even if it is minor and not my normal routine.0

I got a birth control shot 2 months ago that caused me to gain 15 of the 30 lbs I lost back, so I feel like I still need to do something on my off days...like I just got back from a 20 minute walk. Or I may leisurely walk up and down the stairs for 15 minutes. It's something easy (the stairs) at my home, without having to go anywhere, but I like the walk because we have some hills so it's not steady.

on my 'days off' i usually do light lifting or cardio or both. i get three 'days off' according to my routine but i am in the gym everyday0
