It's sad to say that I have been struggling with weight my whole life and I'm just 5 days shy of my 21st birthday and doing something about it. Ever since the 4 th grad I have been taunted and told that I am fat, when in reality I look bak and I was just a child who looked like everyone else. My dads family are a group of tall, thick men and women...and my moms side are petite, small framed. And which gene was I blessed with, my dad of course. I have 3 older syblings my brother did wrestling, boxing an became a marine... My sister has always been tiny, and became a cop and my older sister is a nurse and falls in the same boat as me. All troughout highschool I was teased about my weight to one point I believed it. I took a picture of myself at 16 as a before my weightloss picture.. I was skin and bones... Ridiculous what society can do... And peers.
Needless to say it started there and never ended I am now 5'8 246 pounds and ready to start a new chapter of my life and stop thinking of the past even tho it's hard not to.

I do love my life, and I want a family of my own someday!

So as of 9/13/2009 I am making that change and I am so excited to be on here and not feel alone! And to have that support and motivation makes me so excited!!!

Good for you!! Let me tell you that this has been the most eye opening experience in my life. After so many years of eating anything and however much of it I have now realized where I went wrong. Its amazing how your new thoughts will play a huge role in what and how much you eat. I went from eating fast food on almost a daily basis including super sizing it to not having fast food at all except for every once in awhile...and let me tell you that I can go months without having any fast food. Now my frame of mind is...i shouldn't have that cuz I don't have enough calories. I don't see myself on a diet but living a normal life with healthier choices. So far it has worked. I wish you good luck with this adventure and know you can do it. Everyone here is happy to help.

You are DEFINITELY not alone. You can do this. :flowerforyou: You need to do this for you, though, not for those around you. It's such a blessing when we finally see things that our eyes were closed to before.

Here's a new chapter that will have a happy ending!

Congratulations on your new start! We're walking along right beside you.

Welcome. I think you'll find this site to be very useful to you in your journey. Just remember that you are the one in control of your life. Don't let others tell you that you can't do it. You can and will as long as you follow this program. I never dreamed I would be able to lose like I have without being in WW or some other program. This is the best "program" I have ever done and I control it all by myself and listen to the "veterans" on how to do it. I wish you the best.:flowerforyou:

Good luck...and only listen to yourself cause you know how you feel...others around you will always judge, and who are they to say anything? Congrats on your new journey and good luck with the birthday!

alcohol advice for your 21 b-day....all your alcohol should be clear....vodka has about 56 calories per shot......a margarita has about 720 calories and any long island iced teas have about 800....do research online before you go out and drink on your bday to decide how many calories(empty) you really are gonna be taking in.....hope you dont' mind the advice!
