I bought a used rowing machine today and as soon as I got home I got right on it and BAM I did like 3 rows and almost died!!!

Any one who rows or has tried it.. Is this normal?

How can I get a good work out if I can only do 3 rows in

Thanks!

Did the seller also give you the manual?

It sounds like you're probably employing poor technique and using your arms to supply almost all of the power.

Here's a link to one of the technique pages on Cencpt2's website (I don't know what type of erg you have but there are great training resources on their site)

Build up slowly, rowing gives you a full body workout but it takes a little while to nail your technique.

You may also be able to google the manual (try just searching for the model number on google with the word "manual"--usually, the model number is unique enough that it'll pull up!)

Look online for the user manual. I just last week purchased a Gold gym treadmill and looked the manual up online.

my brother has one and I use it regularly... The one he has it has certain settings on the front part w/ numbers. The lower the number the lower the resistance.
The key is to do a constant, steady, "glides"(rows). Push w/ you legs then when your legs are totally extended, then that when your arms come in to play.
hmmmm.. I think I sound confusing.. Maybe try to you tube it and there will prob be an insturctional video on the right technique and form to use while using these..

In all, Rowing is a great cardio exercise in alternative to other high impact cardio workouts. So dont give up.. try to look it up on the internet. :)
