Hypoglycemia

I have recently been diagnosed as hypoglycemic. Since seeing the nutritionist and eating small meals every 3-4 hours, I have felt so much more "even" through the day, and do not over-eat anymore. I am still learning lots about hypoglycemia, and am confused about sugar intake. Does anyone know of good books that explain not just the symptoms and prevention of hypoglycemia, but what actually what causes hypoglycemic episodes? Why is it that hypoglycemia causes the body to not be able to handle large amounts of sugar at one time, but at the same time cannot function with very little sugar? Thank you
