Making Calories on Non-exercise days?

Hello all!
MFP's got my net calorie goal at 1200. On days when I exercise, I usually eat back some/most of the calories so I'm close to a 1200 net. On the days when I don't exercise though, or days like today when I have a migraine that knocks me out of commission, MFP tells me I'm going to put my body into "starvation mode" if I eat less than 1200. [I ate 1140-something today]
Is this correct, or is it just something I have to deal with about having a fairly low calorie goal? Should I increase my calorie goal a bit so I'm eating more? I'm just not sure, since I want to lose weight at a good pace, and even though I set MFP to 2lbs a week, the plan it gave me only allows for 1.2lbs lost per week.
Thanks for the help! I'm fairly new around here, and just trying to figure out what's going to work for me. I started out logging for a couple weeks last month, then got busy and forgot. Just signed up for a gym membership though, so hopefully this'll help kickstart things!
