have always been relativley healthy, played football twice a week (soccer for our american friends) gym as often as i could.
then whilst playing indoor football i slipped on a patch of water, doing the splits for the first time in a few years. hospital visits etc later and i had torn my MCL in my right knee.
so was sat for what seemed like a long time.
worst thing was that as this healed i realised my main pain was in my lower abdominal / groin area
doctor says ive torn my abdominal muscle at its lowest point. as their is little blood flow at that point they take a long time to heal, so 1/2 years worse case scenario.
so on anti inflammitorys and pain killers, although the pains more of a dull ache
so i put on a bit of weight lol. my exscuse is i was feeling sorry for myself
so approx 1 1/2 stone about 21 pounds
so on a healthy eating plan, and im back in the gym taking it steady
hope to see my weight fall of and i will keep you posted
and to make matters worse , i have sarcoidosis which for those who dont know, means that in my case my lungs are badly scarred and i get tired quickly, but hey life could be worse lol

You're in the right place. Good luck to you :)
  • Definitely good luck! It's a hard road after an injury. I too have Sarcoid. (Diagnosed in April 2007) Between the prednisone and Methotrexate and the lack of motivation.. I gained nearly 75 lbs.
I started myfitnesspal and have been using a "FitBit" since January and have lost 35 lbs.

You're definitely in a supportive crowd!

While I'm not as "fit" as you are, I am in a similar position.

I was using MFP, and with diet and exercise I was down almost 20 lbs. Then I was in a car accident and suffered from a TBI (major concussion) that put me out of the loop for almost 4 weeks. No work, no fun, no nothing for four weeks. It was awful. With time, I'm slowly getting better, but needless to say, I've gained all but maybe 6 pounds of it back. It's so incredibly frustrating.

The only advice I can give you is to take time and listen to your body. While some days you can run a marathon (ok, not really, but you know what I mean) there are other days when you can't get out of bed.

Be mindful of what you eat, and track all your food.

Good luck, and don't give up. I'm slowly starting back on the right track.
  • I tore my ACL in my right knee in June 2010 so a similar injury to yours and I went from 11 stone to 13 stone and a couple of pounds, started this in late January/Early February and now weigh 140 pounds or 10 stone if you like just keep up the exercise and updating the profile and you'll see it drop off

Hey, I can relate - seven years ago (as of yesterday) I had a near fatal accident and through my two year recovery I put on 70 (yes SEVENTY) pounds. At the moment, I have lost 55 with 15 more to go - it has not been easy but it isn happening. Good luck to you and MFP is a great place for the support, advice and motivation that is required.

You seem determined, and have the right attitude, best of luck to you!! Feel free to add me if you want more support,.
