    And Taubes is extreme in view. Asians eat lots of carbs and don't have the same issues.

    Yeah but did you read the actual research article? The graphs are very interesting, especially the wide range of metabolic reactions to the diets. They also make some excellent points about behavioral modification and sustainability.

    It's food for thought in the calorie in/calorie out debate, which is a generally vaild arguement but is improtant to study in pre/post obese subjects who may require different strategies to maintian health.
