I have a new coworker that is also a personal trainer for LA Fitness. Anyway we were talking about my goal of leaning out, and not "bulking". I usually eat pretty clean, and do get at least 1400 calories a day. Anyway his recommendation was to increase my protein to approximately 150 per day,. and 100 carbs. That seems like a lot to me. Any insite on this?

Dropping your carb intake and increasing your protein intake should always lean you out.

Just 150 seemed like a lot to me, and increasing carbs to 100 would actually be an increase for me.

If 150g of protein is a lot and 100g of carbs is a lot, are you getting only fat or are you not eating enough at all??? O.o

150g shouldn't be too hard if you eat chicken, eggs, cottage cheese, other meats, Greek Yogurt, etc.

I pretty much get most of my protein from eggs and meat.

Your minimum intake should be .8g-1g per pound of lean body weight. I would say you probably need a minimum of 120 and up to about 150 a day... but at the end of the day it really comes down to WHAT you are eating and not how much.
