Chobani brand is my favorite After trying Greek yogurt I don't think I can go back to eating regular again!
You can substitute sour cream with plain also, we never notice the difference.0 -
Greek yogurt in general confuses me....I know it is much more protein, but when I read the labels, I see so much more sugar than other yogurt....can someone help me with understanding how more sugar can be better for you? This has "bugged" me for awhile now! I need clarity! thanks! :blushing:
Remember that milk itself has naturally occurring sugar in it- lactose. Greek yogurt is essentially just yogurt that has less whey in it- you can make your own just by putting regular yogurt in some cheese cloth and letting more whey strain out. That's how greek yogurt has more protein ANF sugar than regular- it's more concentrated.
The added sugar amount varies from brand to brand and flavor to flavor. If watching your sugar intake is really important to you, you can always buy plain and sweeten it yourself with some honey or fruit.0 -
I now pretty much only eat plain regular or greek yogurt. It has been an acquired taste, for sure, since it does not contain all the sugar (and whatever else) that other yogurt (including non-fat varieties) has. I mind as well eat a snickers bar . If you really want to make it part of your food repertoire, then go plain and begin to add all sorts of yummy, healthy things to your liking. At least you will know what is going into your body!0

I assume that you're looking at the "fruit at the bottom" or other flavored Greek yogurt. Almost every flavored yogurt, even ones that are nonfat, always have added sugar - usually at least 24 to 27g of sugar - and thus a much higher sugar content than nonfat plain Greek yogurt. Because I'm convinced that added sugar and refined flours fed my food addiction and easy weight gain, the last thing I want when trying to eat something "healthy" is to have unnecessary, processed sugar added. Oikos Nonfat plain has only 5g of sugar.0 -
Chobani, a tsp. or two of sugar free jello chocolate pudding, and pomegranate seeds! It's my favorite.
That sounds awesome!0 -
Plain yogurt is the way to go, Greek or not! The additions and flavors add so much sugar. I like fruit and a little honey in mine!0

I hate greek yogurt so I just add protein powder to a yogurt that I like.0

Personally I eat the Yoplait Honey Vanilla or the Pomegranate Greek Yogurt. You might want to eat the Pomegranate first because it has more flavor to it.0
