- When using non-digital scales in the gym. Make sure you calibrate them before weighing in. Scales at my gym have been off 20 lbs before. Grab a 10 lb dumbbell and lay it on the scale. If the scale reads 20 lbs, then you know it's off by 10 lbs. I have had clients in tears after reading the scale.
