Depends on what sources your get your sugar from.... many people (myself included) don't count sugar found naturally in foods, we just watch the processed stuff found in cakes, candy, etc.

Of course, if you have sugar issue, like diabetes, then you would need to keep better track of it.

I talked to my trainer the other day telling him I had been cutting sugar (e,g, from sugar filled yogurt) and was worried about the sugar level in blueberries. He managed to avoid calling my an idiot.

I'm often over on sugar as well but it only ever comes from fruit and vegetables that I have prepared myself. I do try to stay under if I can but I don't stress about it if I do stray over my 'goal' amount.

    1) Sugar in fruit is nowhere near as bad as refined sugar in packaged products because it comes balanced with lots of fiber that slows the absorption of it (lowering the insulin response) plus all the other great nutrients that fruit provides.

    2) If it's really bothering you, watermelon and banana are probably the two worst fruit culprits for sugar content and high GI. Try lower GI fruits instead.

    3) If you're tracking total carbs (which you should be) and if you're not diabetic, then there's really no need to bother tracking sugar. Track something more important to health like fiber or sodium instead.
  • thank you all...really helped me out

This just made me remove sugar and track fibre instead, thank you! :flowerforyou:

Sugar is sugar. The only difference between two apples and a can of soda is that the apples have vitamins and fiber. If sugar's a concern, just switch your fruits to the lower sugar ones like berries.
