Uneven fat loss - help.

Hi. It seems as though all of my fat loss has been from the waist down. I have dropped 2 pant sizes, but am still wearing the same shirt size. What the heck can I do to work off some of this upper body fat?

Nah, it's an illusion. It's coming off at a pretty even distribution. Fat is always lost that way. It's just that you had more up top to start with so it's going to take a bit longer for it to start showing in those areas. Just keep soldiering on and all will be well.0

Continue to diet, you cannot spot reduce. So keep doing what you're doing and eventually you'll lose fat on your torso0

Nothin'--there's no spot training! Your body decides where it comes off, so just keep losing until it's done with the waist and moves to the upper body.0

it does eventually even out - my hubby has the same problem. Plus if you are losing lots of weight from one area it can make other areas look bigger in comparison.0

Congrats on the 2 sizes!
are you doing any upper body exercises...lifting weights or pushups..?? maybe your muscles are getting bigger..0 -
 NOTHING!
Welcome to the human race....
It is what it is, so just continue doing what you are doing and track body fat as you progress.

And BEWARE those claiming some secret to body fat reduction. There is no secret.
All we have to do is exercise and eat right, “Oh if it was this simple”.
We see constantly advertisements for pills, potions, exercise gadgets, which all say “take this and do that”, and that’s all you have to do. Forget them all; they don’t work – Period.
Eat right and exercise - end of story.
Good luck - ALL IS POSSIBLE :drinker:0 -
Everything I've read says that you can't choose where the fatloss happens. You can work out your upperbody for general muscle tone, but it can't be targeted. Keep at it and it will all even out
Congrats on the 2 pants sizes! Great job:)0 -
Congratulations on your great loss! Keep doing what you are doing!0

One thing you can do is strength training, not necessary big weights but focus on the top part of your body (arms, abs, chest, etc). Running, walking, and swimming would help with your entire body. Those are my tips! I hope that helps. Good luck and take care!!0

you can't control where the fat leaves your body first...just be happy that your body fat is jumping ship. Your body has some preconceived order for dumping fat and its not the same for everyone. Give it time. This is a lifelong journey and, if you stay consistent, you will achieve whatever results you desire.
As for me, I can tell you that I started dropping pants sizes before I dropped shirt sizes. It seemed like I was wearing XL t-shirts FOREVER! and, then, all of a sudden, I started wearing size L t-shirts. Now a lot of size L t-shirts are a little big and while I could wear some size M t-shirts, I don't usually prefer form fitting stuff so I will just bide my time until size M t-shirts are a little less snug. Its funny...I look at how some shirts fit me now and I think back to how they fit me whatever number of months ago and I know I'm winning.0 -
Most of mine has been from the waist up - arms, shoulders, waist and back mainly - fancy doing a swap? ;-)0

unfortunately you can't change your body shape, so fat loss for most people - especially women is never evenly distributed unless your weight is evenly distributed. most of us have larger butts, larger thighs, larger bellies, larger boob, etc than the rest of our bodies. i know for me since I'm kinda of a fake hourglass, so far i've had tons of loss in my midsection, and only slight differences in my thighs and breasts.
the general rule of thumb is the first place you notice weight gain is the last place you'll be noticing weight loss. so just keep doing what you're doing, take your measurements, and keep at it.0 -
Congrats on the loss so far. Unfortunately we cant pick & choose where fat loss occurs. Just keep plugging away. Your doing great.0

I, too, have gotten smaller from the waist down. However, my big form of calorie burn is freestyle swimming which has made my shoulders and arms stronger, therefore, my upper body is only a size smaller. What is you major mode of exercise? Maybe that is why. Just a suggestion.0
