What's going on everyone, hope everyone's doing well.
Okay, so the title says it all, I've been walking, working out, watching what I eat, drinking lots of water, and sleeping as well as I can. That being said I still gained 2 pounds since I weighed myself last monday morning.
The question is, why? Is it really muscle or water retention, that just seems goofy to me? Anyway, its not really that big of a deal, I'm still going to work out and eat right, I just want to know if I'm doing something wrong or what?
Anyway thanks ahead of time, you rock!

Did you do anything different in the past week? New exercise or diet changes?0

Could be water, did you eat lots of salt or eat anything weird on Sunday?0
-
I haven't been eating anything different really, but on sat I ate a lot of fast food because I had been on set and I really couldn't control what I ate. Even then though I tried my best to keep it lean, and I think I was still under calories. I also didn't walk everyday last week I don't think. I didn't eat anything out of the ordinary on sun either.0

Could be the sodium from the fast food. Drink more water and flush it out.0

Generally fast food is loaded with sodium, especially the stuff advertised as being low calorie. I'd chalk it up to that, drink a lot of water today and keep on truckin' along.0

The only things I can think of are: A) Those couple beers from the 4th might be causing some water-weight gain or
your calories burned are inaccurate and you're therefor off on your calories.
I'd lean more towards the second one. I've done p90x so I know it's intense... but I never burned more than 800ish cals in an hour on it. Yes, I know size, weight, male/female, all play a part as well...
I can't think of any other reason you'd be up 2 lbs though!0 -
I think you might be right on the calorie thing Abetterjune, but I use a monitor and then cross check that with P90X calorie counter site on low intensity... So I feel like I under claim them actually maybe. Maybe I'm doing that wrong though. I walk almost everyday though and thats why my burn is higher. Normally I get anywhere from 300 to 700 extra burned with the walk in... hmmm. The fast food and beer might have contributed, but it wasn't that much and I was still under on calories in... GRRR~!!0

Less about calories and more about sodium. Sodium can cause you to retain water. Also, at the risk of being entirely gross or TMI...did you go to the bathroom before you weighed in?0 -
You haven't gained muscle (this takes time and a specific diet) but your muscle fibers may be retaining water. If you weren't very active before, with all the activity you've had lately (going by what you've written above), you've likely created small tears in the tissues and part of the healing process includes water retention in those fibers. Think like when you twist your ankle and it swells with fluid - same concept only it's more spread out so it's not as visible. Pretty much assume that if you're sore and up a pound or two, you're retaining water from activity.
And yeah, fast food (and pretty much any prepared food) is chock full of sodium and that can take at least a few days to flush out.
Either way, make sure you're drinking plenty of water and those 2 pounds will likely be gone in no time.0
